Professional background.
Mariam Kvirkvia is an Attorney at Law at Metric Law/Tax, where she has worked since 2023. She concurrently serves as an Arbitrator at the Black Sea International Arbitration Chamber (since 2023) and as a Project Coordinator with the UNHCR/Legal Aid Service (since 2023).
Prior to joining Metric, Mariam Kvirkvia worked as Director’s Assistant at LEPL Legal Aid Service (2022–2023) and held positions as Head of Career Development Center and Deputy Rector at Kutaisi International University (2024–2025). She also serves as Legal Counsel for Imereti DMO (since 2023).
Mariam Kvirkvia holds an LL.M. in International and Transnational Law from Chicago-Kent College of Law (2023–2024) and is a PhD candidate at Tbilisi State University. She earned her Master of Laws at TSU (2020–2022) and her Bachelor’s degree from Black Sea International University (2016–2020).
Mariam is an active researcher with publications in the Journal of International Law (2025), the International Law Journal (2025), and the Georgian-German Journal of Comparative Law (2024). Her research focuses on causation in medical malpractice and the protection of asylum seekers under international law.
